Winter Shelter Program Opens Early
The Winter Shelter Program is operating now through March 31. During the Winter Shelter season, each shelter will open at 5:00 pm and close at 7:00 am. Hours are extended for inclement weather.

A Win for the Homeless on Skid Row
City Council agreed to stop confiscating the precious belongings of those living on the streets. The Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority (LAHSA) issued its guidelines for the homeless. The guidelines state, in part, that, “We need to end our neighbors’ homelessness, not sweep it out of sight.”
Safe Parking Plans Paused
The Daily Breeze reported on October 22, 2018 that the San Pedro Temple that was planning to host homeless overnight parking has paused their plans due to local demonstrators and complaints.

Among homeless adults with children, 27 percent said they were working either part or full time.

Supportive and Low Income Housing Opens in Harbor Gateway
The week of August 10, 2018 Councilmember Buscaino helped open 160 units of supportive and low-incoming housing in his district for the formerly homeless. The El Segundo Apartments and 127th Street Apartments in Harbor Gateway will help take many individuals and families off our streets and out of their cars, giving them a fair shot at life.

Mayor Garcetti delivered his State of the City Address April 16 saying that he needs the help of Angelenos to improve our quality of life in Los Angeles.
