A Word from Arvie Powell

I am pleased to serve District 4. I grew up in District 4 and have been living here more recently for the past nine years. For the 135th Street Neighborhood Watch, I served as the interim President nearly a year and helped our group participate in various community projects. After Betty Hawkins’ passing, I was appointed as the District 4 Representative in fall 2020. I have been giving out flyers on using 311 for bulky item pick ups and other City services. I have followed up with stakeholder complaints, such as having Building and Safety fence off an abandoned house, getting RVs removed from residential streets, and using 311 to keep our alleys clean. I am advocating for the City to do its job to provide services to the community. I want to continue to be the voice of the stakeholders living in District 4. Please contact me with any concerns and I can point you to useful resources, if you haven't already found them on this website. Your best bet for getting the City to address problems like graffiti, homeless encampments, abandoned cars, overgrown property and more is to complete a MyLA311 service request online or by App. If you have made several requests via MyLA311 and haven't gotten any results, please let me know and we can escalate the concern. Together, we can make District 4 better!
