Everyone has constitutional rights, regardless of immigration status. It’s important to know how to exercise them.
What to Do If ICE Tries to Enter Your Home or Vehicle
- Create a family preparedness plan with contact information for your lawyer, childcare providers, and other support.
- Do not open the door if an immigration agent is knocking. Ask to see a warrant through the window or under the door.
- You have the right to remain silent—do not answer any questions. Call the CHIRLA hotline at 888-624-4752 if you need guidance.
- You have the right to speak with a lawyer.
- Never carry false documentation, as it is a crime.
