Central and Southern Mexico experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake this past spring.  Seismologists have just announced that the San Francisco Bay area has four earthquake faults which are overdue for a major rupture.  The San Andreas Fault and other faults impacting Southern California are all overdue to create major earth movement.  Are you and your family prepared for the “Big One”?

Join us on Sat. November 8 from 10 am to 1 pm as we survey at least 50 blocks and apartment buildings to inform and remind our residents what they need to do to be prepared to live without water or electricity or gas for three to five days.  We need volunteers to go door-to-door on one block with small bags of information and a short survey to learn which of our residents have medical skills, construction skills, or Ham radio training which can be of use to assist others in need when a major emergency impacts our Neighborhood Council area.  Block leaders who have not received one of our emergency preparedness bags can receive one after the event, complete with a flashlight and small first aid kit.  Block leaders are also welcome to join us at 12 noon on Sat. November 8 to discuss what you have learned and to have lunch together at the 135th Street School, 801 W. 135th Street.  Call us at (310) 768-3853 to volunteer as a block leader or e-mail us at hgnnc@sbcglobal.net.
