For the month of July 2024, OCB contractors removed 2,856,895 square feet of graffiti from 40,625 locations citywide.
Here are the top 5 Council Districts from which the highest amounts of graffiti was removed…
- Council District 14: 543,834 square feet of graffiti removed from 6,895 locations.
- Council District 1: 494,088 square feet of graffiti removed from 5,922 locations.
- Council District 13: 338,324 square feet of graffiti removed from 5,039 locations.
- Council District 8: 323,585 square feet of graffiti removed from 1,379 locations.
- Council District 9: 248,529 square feet of graffiti removed from 1,175 locations.

Proposed Increases to Sewer Rates
LA Sanitation is conducting public outreach efforts to inform communities across Los Angeles about the proposed Sewer Service Charge rate increase.
The City of Los Angeles is proposing a rate increase for its Sewer Service Charge (SSC). The funds bring needed updates to the city’s aging sewer system and go specifically toward the management, maintenance, and improvement of that system. Steady rate increases were paused in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Property owners will receive a notice in the mail in early July outlining the need for the proposed rate increase and how they can learn more about providing input at two webinars this summer. Wastewater treatment is among the most critical services LASAN provides to protect public health and the environment.

CIRCLE Coming to West LA
Mayor Bass announced that the Crisis and Incident Response through Community-led Engagement (CIRCLE) program is expanding its current Venice and Del Rey service area to also cover Oakwood, Mar Vista, Palms, Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey, Westchester, Manchester Square and Dockweiler Beach. CIRCLE provides services to help respond to calls involving unhoused individuals, including loitering, well-being checks, noise disturbances, substance abuse issues, and indecent exposure. The expansion will launch 24/7 service on Sunday, August 25th.

ICYMI: Executive Directive 8- Supporting Local Film & TV Production
Mayor Bass pledged the City’s renewed support for L.A. ‘s entertainment industry by issuing her eighth executive directive to streamline and focus City department processes for local film and television production. Mayor Bass signed the executive directive into effect yesterday before heading to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to continue crucial preparations for Los Angeles to host the 2028 Games. The signing of this Executive Directive comes after Mayor Bass convened her inaugural Entertainment Industry Council to draw upon senior industry leaders’ expertise as she leads new efforts to support L.A’s entertainment industry last month.
The executive directive is expected to improve City department processes by designating staff and resources toward supporting local production and film-permitting by requiring City departments to:
- Meet with external industry stakeholders at least quarterly to address production-related challenges and solutions directly with departments.
- Designate a Film Liaison staff member from key departments who will participate in the quarterly meetings and be available to the external industry to provide assistance with City processes.
- Review internal department processes and make recommendations to streamline and facilitate the permitting and review process for filming.

ICYMI: Inside Safe in Hollywood, South LA, and Valley
Mayor Bass announced that more than 30 unhoused Angelenos were brought inside with supportive services through Inside Safe response efforts in South Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood. The effort comes following a Heat Advisory throughout Los Angeles. Inside Safe response efforts are carried out by a dedicated portion of the Field Intervention Team, building relationships with unhoused Angelenos who come to past Inside Safe operation sites and housing them with supportive services. The Response Team monitors all previous Inside Safe locations.
