Vermont Transit Corridor Community Meeting
October 13, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Metro is working to improve bus service connecting communities from East Hollywood to South Los Angeles. This new high-quality, reliable north-south Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service will link key activity centers and improve access to jobs, entertainment and the regional transit system.
Metro invites you to attend one of three roundtable discussions on the Vermont Transit Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project. A study is underway to determine how BRT can be implemented along the Vermont Corridor without precluding its conversion to rail as a long-term option.
During each roundtable, you will learn more about the proposed project and provide input on the initial concepts.
The Vermont Transit Corridor BRT Project:
Extends 12.5 miles, from Hollywood Boulevard (on the north) to 120th Street (on the south).
Is the second busiest bus corridor in Los Angeles County with over 45,000 daily boardings and is expected to grow in the coming years.
Is anticipated to open sometime between fiscal years 2028 – 2030.
The Vermont Transit Corridor Rail Conversion/Feasibility Study involves evaluating BRT concepts previously developed to ensure that their implementation does not preclude a potential conversion to rail in the future.
Funding for the potential conversion of BRT to rail is anticipated to be available after 2067.
Preliminary information on potential rail conversion concepts will be presented at the roundtable discussions.
