Planning & Land Use Committee Meeting

The Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Land Use Committee will meet on Sat. September 8 at 10 a.m. at the Harbor Gateway Community Center, 802 W. Gardena Blvd., Gardena, CA 90247. Parking will be available in the lot located on the south side of the building–enter from Menlo Avenue.

Staff from the City’s Department of City Planning will be present to explain the process of updating the Harbor Gateway Community Plan and how residents, businesses, and property owners can comment on needed changes and proposals for rezoning by the City. The Plan was last updated in 1995 and also covers the area of Harbor Gateway South.

Some of the issues that may be considered during the Community Plan update process:

Where should the new multi-story apartments be built
How can more green space be created in the neighborhood
How can more space for small businesses be created
Can the Figueroa industrial corridor be improved
Can Gardena Blvd. be re-imagined
Should Vermont Avenue become only residential or also mixed use
What is the best use for the property on the north side of Redondo Beach Blvd. from Vermont Avenue to the 110 freeway
How do we address the legacy oil and gas wells in our neighborhoods
How do we improve public transit and transit connections
