Planning and Land Use Committee Meeting

The Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council Planning and Land Use Committee will meet on Sat. April 7 at 10 a.m. at the Harbor Gateway Community Center, 802 W. Gardena Blvd., Gardena, CA 90247.

The Committee will be considering whether to file Community Impact Statements with the Los Angeles City Council regarding several proposals relating to housing the homeless, including 14-105-S3 which would allow rental vehicles to be used as housing for the homeless, CPC-2017-3409-CA which would convert existing motels into housing for the homeless, and 17-1422 which would create temporary supportive housing.

The Committee will also discuss the proposal being considered at the State level, SB 827 (Weiner), which would exempt housing projects with parcels all within a 1/2 mile radius of a major transit stop or a 1/4 mile radius of a high-quality transit corridor from various requirements and empowers the State to override local zoning laws to let developers build taller and more densely around rail stations and bus lines, even in areas zoned R1 (single-family home neighborhoods).

Additionally, the Committee will consider a proposal to allow two duplexes on a narrow lot at 320 E.118th Street so that two duplexes can be built on the property. A hearing for the project will be held at City Hall on Wed. April 11 at 9:30 a.m.

Brief updates on other planning and land use issues will be given, including on the status of the proposed Prologis warehouse at 747-761 W. Redondo Beach Blvd.
