General Membership meeting on Tues. October 23 –
how to run for a seat on the HGNNC Board, details of the Harbor Gateway Community Plan update process, new Southeast LAPD Captain, and Sense.LA
The Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council will hold its next General Membership meeting on Tues. October 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the 135th Street School, 801 W. 135th Street, Gardena, CA 90247.
The City Clerk’s office will provide an update on the upcoming Harbor Gateway North Board elections next year and how you can run for one of the seventeen seats. Filing for candidates begins February 23. There will also be an application process to help staff the polling places for the various Neighborhood Council elections.
The Southeast Division of the LAPD has a new captain, Louis Pagliolonga. He will introduce himself and the current Senior Lead Officers for our area.
The Department of City Planning will explain the process of updating the Harbor Gateway Community Plan, which was last updated in 1995. Those living between Artesia Blvd. and 120th Street, from Vermont Avenue to Figueroa Street, including businesses located on the east side of Figueroa Street to the L.A. County line, are encouraged to get involved with the update process. See more details in the article that follows.
Metro will explain a proposal to create a dedicated bus lane along Vermont Avenue from downtown to 120th Street and a future proposal to create light rail along the same route, with part of the rail underground.
Sense.LA will explain their process of linking deep thinking, technology, and art to link people to each other in their community.
The Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council will be hosting traveling Board meetings for the next several months. Our goal is to engage with the stakeholders within our neighborhood council boundaries. We want our community to know about their neighborhood council, volunteer to serve on committees. There are also upcoming opportunities to register as a candidate for the upcoming neighborhood council election in 2019. We seek diversity and inclusion on the Board representative of the Harbor Gateway North community.
Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach will be from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. The Board Meeting will begin at 6:30pm. We’re coming out to meet you, please join us.
The Board Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Quarterly Membership Meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of January, April, July & October.
