Planning & Land Use Committee Meeting

All Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council stakeholders are invited to attend the Sat. October 7 meeting of the Planning and Land Use Committee, which will meet at 10 a.m. at the Harbor Gateway Community Center, 802 W. Gardena Blvd., Gardena, CA 90247. The parking lot gate to the south of the building will be open.

The Committee will be reviewing the proposal for a 250,000 square foot warehouse at 747 W. Redondo Beach Blvd., which possibly may be leased as an Amazon fulfillment center. The applicant, Prologis, is requesting 24-hour, seven day a week operation, with bays for up to 72 large trucks and parking for 220 vehicles. The City of Los Angeles Dept. of Transportation has reviewed the applicant’s traffic study and found some impact to the on and off ramps of the 110 Harbor Freeway from the proposed project. A report on the environmental impact of the project is still in process.

The Committee will also have information on the status of the City’s new cannabis ordinances, including the map of where commercial cannabis outlets will be allowed. Per state law, recreational cannabis retail sales will be allowed as of January 1, 2018. City laws will regulate certain aspects that state law does not cover, such as where such retail outlets can be located.
